2020-2021 AmeriCorps VISTA, Erin Brown
|
Erin Brown is the AmeriCorps VISTA, serving her second term for 2020 to 2021 after completing a successful first term 2019-2020. Originally from the Dayton area, Erin recently graduated from Capital University in Columbus with a degree in economics and political science. She also worked for the past year at the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) as an intern with the Federal Energy Advocates and Forecasting team. Her time in school, internships with the PUCO, the German Village Historical Society, the Ohio Democratic Party, and the Ohio Student Association have resulted in a passion for public service and economic development, which is what drew her to join the Home, Inc. team. Erin hit the ground running in June and has already helped with documentation and formatting for a half- million-dollar grant for affordable housing. Thanks to the Ohio CDC Association, Home, Inc. is able to benefit from the AmeriCorps VISTA program. VISTAs are full-time volunteers who pledge a year of service to help build capacity for mission growth at nonprofits who are working to alleviate poverty in America. In exchange for their service, VISTAs receive hands-on nonprofit experience, a monthly stipend, and benefits.
