Yellow Springs Home, Inc. is seeking two
​AmeriCorps VISTAs 
for the 2021-2022 service year!

Help further our mission of strengthening community and diversity in Yellow Springs and Miami Township by providing affordable and sustainable housing through our Community Land Trust. Be part of a community-wide effort to reduce poverty, empower residents, and address systemic inequality. Build capacity while being mentored in grant writing, research, social impact measuring, outreach, storytelling, affordable housing development, and more. Some weekend and evening work may be required.

The successful candidates will: enjoy working in a fast-paced team environment; be passionate about social justice, climate, and housing issues; be self-motivated, reliable, flexible, hard working, extremely organized, and attentive to detail; enjoy critical thinking; and effectively communicate with people of diverse backgrounds.

These positions are a great opportunity to make a difference in a dedicated, grassroots agency, learn leadership skills, be an ambassador for community development, learn transferable skills, and contribute to a powerful mission in a wonderful community.

The VISTA position with Yellow Springs Home, Inc. will focus on four areas of program expansion and development:
​1. Support capacity building to support mission growth and program expansion to alleviate poverty 

2. Champion improved local housing options marketed and designed for diversity and inclusion by supporting pre-development of housing projects and programs to alleviate poverty through stable, affordable housing access

3. Provide leadership for community relationship building, public outreach, and strategic collaborations and partnerships, resulting in strengthened community and diversity and poverty alleviation

4. Support expanded depth, reach, and sustainability of financial coaching and stewardship programs, resulting in lasting household financial empowerment and poverty alleviation for low- and moderate- income clientele



Outreach VISTA Priorities: 
  • Assist in event planning and improve capacity in fundraising
  • Provide administrative support and assist in grant applications
  • Assist with management of website updates, social media, and other media
  • Build communications plans for community outreach (online, print, and in-person)
  • Increase capacity of the organization to develop larger affordable housing project
  • Assist with affordable housing project predevelopment including site management
  • Build affirmative marketing and outreach using online, print, and in-person gatherings

Stewardship VISTA Priorities:

  • Alleviate poverty through financial empowerment
  • Plan and implement new property management systems
  • Assist in initiatives, grants, and projects and develop report summaries
  • Increase capacity of current pre- and post-purchase stewardship services
  • Expand depth, reach, and sustainability of financial coaching and stewardship client
  • Increase capacity to provide accessibility modifications for low-income households
  • Assist with process database, schedule, and client updates
  • Provide administrative support and assist with affordable housing project predevelopment
